Why did we create the Salicornia Green Salt?
The text nobody wants to receive:
March 15, 2016 -- near midnight. Vancouver International Airport.
The moment Brian stepped off the plane and switched off flight mode on his phone, he learned about the bad news… his dad had suffered a stroke, and is under treatment.
Even though his life was not in danger, he had lost most of the motor functions in his arms and hands. His wind sailing, piano performing hobbies and computer technician careers all ended overnight. It was hard for Brian to watch: his dad — a once vibrant, active and capable man — lose his independence. The devastating disease robbed him of his health, spirit and livelihood.
Brian’s search for answers:
As a naturally curious person, he started down the rabbit hole of articles, videos and research papers about stroke. He learned that a high-salt diet can lead to high blood pressure, which increases the risk for heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.
Through some research, Brian uncovered a little-known plant called Salicornia. Once dehydrated and grinded down, this inherently salty plant turns into a delicious, low-sodium substitute for traditional salt!
After this discovery, with the help of a resourceful foodie friend, the Dehydrated Saliconia Low Sodium Salt was born.
What's wrong with salt?
Although salt adds deliciousness to food, it contains a high amount of sodium. Consuming too much sodium can elevate the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke, according to CDC.gov. On average, adults consume 50% more sodium per day than the FDA's recommended amount.
Introducing: Salicornia Green Salt — The natural low sodium salt alternative
How does it work:
Salicornia Green Salt is a mineral-rich seasoning that can help improve digestion, promote hydration, regulate blood pressure, and support the normal function of the immune and nervous systems. With its unique blend of minerals and fiber, Green Salt provides a delicious way to enhance the flavor of your meals while also promoting optimal health.
In blind taste tests, Green Salt has been found to have the same relative saltiness as equal portions of regular salt. Additionally, Green Salt adds a natural umami flavor to dishes, elevating their taste and complexity. So whether you're looking to reduce your salt intake or simply want to add some extra flavor to your meals, Salicornia Green Salt is a versatile and nutritious seasoning that can meet all your needs.
